December 6, 2024 – Ohio Gastro values our patients’ safety and privacy more than anything. That’s why we train all of our employees on numerous privacy and safety protections designed to safeguard our patients.

In 2017, our employees told us that one of our doctors, Dr. David Wenzke, may have violated our patient safeguards. We did what’s right and referred those allegations to the Ohio Medical Board. After a five-month investigation and after having been given access to all of our personnel, records, and information, the Medical Board determined there was ‘insufficient evidence to justify further action’ and closed the investigation. Soon after, Dr. Wenzke resigned from our practice. You can read a copy of that 2017 letter from the Medical Board below. The December 6 WBNS broadcast summarizing some of the relevant facts is here.

In October of this year, the Medical Board publicly accused Dr. Wenzke of sexual misconduct. Even though Dr. Wenzke hasn’t worked for us for nearly five years, our staff and physicians continue to assist with the Medical Board’s current investigation. We hope that the Medical
Board would hold any physician who violated a patient’s trust fully accountable.

We want you to know that Ohio Gastro holds our health care professionals to the highest standard of conduct. We strictly enforce our own patient safeguards and will always report questionable behavior to the appropriate authorities.

Thank you for your continued trust in Ohio Gastro.
